The Vice President of User Services, Twitter, Tina Bhatnagar said:

She also stated:

"We hope opening up this application process results in more people finding great, high-quality accounts to follow, and for these creators and influencers to connect with a broader audience."

Recall that Twitter officially introduced account verification for users and organizations in 2009. Currently, Twitter records over 187,000 verified accounts for public personalities in Music, Film, Fashion, Government, Religion, TV, Sport, Religion, Media, Politics and Business.
