DSTV Explora 3 Decoder - All You Need to Know

MultiChoice silently introduced another form of its Explora decoder into the market, supplanting the DSTV Explora 2 which was introduced in September 2016. The new DSTV Explora Model 3A was launched and started selling in November 2018.

The DSTV Explora 3 decoder prides itself with about 110 hours of huge space for recording, and gets rid of the front board where the channel number would typically be shown.

  • The Explora 3 comes with an A7 Remote with follow come batteries, a HDMI cable for clear picture quality, and a little smart card which is pre-installed in the decoder.
  • The DSTV Explora 3 also comes with a 1TB Seagate hard drive, which deals with stockpiling of media contents.

The installation process of the Explora 3 decoder is as same as DSTV's prior Explora models, which requires a Smart LNB and a 80cm dish.

It is already affirmed that the Explora 3 will work seamlessly with any of its smart LNB units, but prescribed the LNB LMX 502 for any new installations for families.

If the decoder is to be used with more than one TV like in offices, places with XtraView setup, MultiChoice had advised their customers to always get information from a DStv Accredited Installer.

XtraView Compatibility

According to Multichoice, the new Explora 3 utilizes for the most part recyclable segments and is totally manufactured in South Africa.

The Explora 3 will soon be accessible at all DSTV Branded Stores across different locations and it can be sold together with the DSTV HD Decoder which can be used for XtraView setups.
